I think the horror stories are a thing of the past, he had some issues which he relates to in his website blog.
He shipped mine very quickly, I had one in less than a week and fedex lost the other for a few days but it too arrived safe and sound.
He was a pleasure to deal with, very quick responses to any questions I had.
Mine sounded amazing right out of the box and continue to improve.
Follow Ups:
Called today to get an update......
Eric said they are all over it and they will ship "soon".
Then he said his CNC guy cut the hole the wrong size and he has to repaint, eh start over with a new speaker, but not to worry they will be perfect and he will be shipping them "soon". Not inspiring confidence here.
Will check back next Friday.
Finally got charged and received a tracking number today. They are suppose to be here on 3-1. Yay. Will give you my impressions and eventually post a full review. Strangely there are no reviews for the Lore yet.
They're here!
They got held up by weather, but they only came a day later then I expected.
Initial impressions. Very positive. Like what I'm hearing so far. I have read in multiple locations that they need 30-50 hours to really hit their peak, especially the bass.
Definitely hearing that live sound that people keep talking about. One thing that I not seen mentioned is the fact that they have paper cones. Something you don't see anymore. The paper definitely sounds different then the more common poly-carbonate. In a good way. Some people had reported harshness. Not hearing that. Played the harshest music I could find. Sounded smooth, present, highly listenable, I'm out of adjectives here. Loving them so far.
How are you liking them with a bit more time? I picked up some used m-Lores a few months ago and have just replaced them with a pair of Lore-S (the Lore with upgraded drivers) from my local Craigslist and am extremely happy running them from an Elekit TU-8200. A very nice step up from the m-Lore.
I've also had several conversations with Eric, and I think every phone call ends with "OK, I need to put another coat of paint on right now," so it seems like he's just very busy.
Yeah loving them more every day. Those drivers are really starting to open up more and give me some great sound. I'm convinced that there is nothing else to be had for $1000 that would sound any better. 90% of the detail of horns without that icepick to the eardrum feeling during certain passages. While I would give the speakers an "A", I would give Eric an "F" for customer service. 2 weeks out and I'm still waiting on the grills. Eric emailed me and called last weekend to let me know the speakers would be ready to ship soon. I called him back and let him know that I already had speakers, just waiting on grills. Hew said he was working on them. Not a word since.

I have had my lore's for a few years now and couldn't be happier . I am going to upgrade to the brilliance in grey sometime very soon . I have spoken with Eric a few times and he has always answered the phone . I would give him a bit of a break as he is a 1 man show .
Yeah I know. Every time I talk to him he doesn't seem to know if he is coming or going. He said that he refuses to hire help to keep his prices reasonable. He did finally send the grills yesterday. Really love the speakers. They have such an open and full sound.
Good luck! Like you said, he has a history. There are plenty of nice speakers out there in that price range. I would cancel if I were you.
