Hi all
I have some permite cored jantzen inductors for a low pass crossover. One of them has Ben dropped and one edge of the core is broken . Will this change the value significantly ? I don't have a meter to measure.
Follow Ups:
Use your ears and test it.
Connect a large value capacitor ( > 5uF ) across the woofer terminals. and the broken inductor in series with woofer/cap. Connect this low pass circuit to a music source.
Play pink noise or applause and listen. Switch the broken inductor for a good one ( from the other channel ). If you hear a difference: Try tape or epoxy to glue on the broken core piece.STEREO_INDUCTOR_ CAP/WOOFER

The bottom of the plastic spool broke or did windings come undone from
the tight wrap?
If the windings have become undone the value will change.
If the ferrous powder has leaked out the coil value will definitely change
If just the bottom edge of the plastic spool is broken and the
coil is intact and the ferrous powder is still inside of the core
your ok.
list it on ebay then it wont effect the sound quality at all anymore!
