Dan, if you are using some sort of off-brand plate amp with adjustable gain and crossover on your sub, I suggest you start looking into something else. I did a measurement on my plate amps and found at around 40 to 60 Hz there is a 12db boost that to me made the bass sound rather slow and muddy.I've replaced mine with a vintage 80's Dahlquist LP-1 subwoofer X-over on my old Quicksilver 90W PP mono blcoks(I got 2 subs) and let me tell ya, what a revelation!

Just returned from Hong Kong where Brian Cherry at DIY HIFI Supply is selling these. Heard it on a normal sub but wonder what it would sound like on a true HORN sub?
I plan on getting a Seismic Sub from Bruce at some point to go with my Edgar Horns. As everyone knows, 80Hz just isn't low enough. =:-0
Looks to have a fair amount of control, when compared to the average plate amp. Don't know if it's a class D or switching amp or what.
Nobody here but us chickens.

Does the Dahlquist sw xo adjust phase?
No, but why would you need one? Here's an article on Dahlquist crossover(see page 13,14):
I've got the Apex Sr, at Bruce's recommendation. Very cost effective. I will also be running two Seismics once the second one is delivered.
Ya' know. I do have that pair of Rogue M-150 mono-blocks not doing anything but gathering dust. Since they don't have to go really low, that might just be a neat experiment. ;)
While My bass horns are not seismics, I run them with VTL MB-125 PP mono amps with a PLLXO at the input. I do like the way they sound, and there really is a lot going on down there when the speakers and amplifiers are up to the task.
