1. I mainly listen Rockabilly, Oldies, Psychobilly, classic Rockīn roll.
2. My room is 13 x 7 feet.
3. Speakers will be connected to sound card thru low powered el84 pp or 2a3 se amp, i am going buy some chinese one.
4. I am going to spend likely 40 USD for speaker.

yeah man... i wouldnt go chinese SE.. you never know what kind of trannies youre getting, plus caps & wiring.. and tubes.at least give yourself a jolida pp el84 amp, a bogen, or even a dynaco! besides.. youd get that cool rosy glow of the vintagey sound... you might just end up with BAD sound with a cheapy chinese amp! 'course youve gotta get it up to speed and checked out.. but in the end, it might do ya better. besides-- you won't get any bass definition with crappy trannies (way important to have good ot's in SE amps), and with the stuff it seems you dig, kick drum and bass are way important-- so invest in some boogie factor insurance!
you could mebbe try some jbl le8's, if you can find 'em cheap enough-- the th's are ballsy, and fairly even tempered, and would do great in a tline.. a bit modern sounding though- but so are fostex, i guess..
good luck!
That Bogen looks very good, i am from Europe so i donīt know vintage American gear, in europe wasn't spread tube amps. I want to buy some el84 amp because i like the sound of the tube.

heya john-well there's always telefunkens- but there's so MANY collectors.. nobody collects bogens, and you could try my fave, eico too. i have a '56 eico (way modded out), and the bass goes for miles.. they made a couple of el84 amps to my memory, and they're not nearly so expensive! trick it out with some good tubes, some PIO caps, and some allen-bradley resistors, and you'll be living in tube halo paradise! mebbe not the 'neo-audiophile' standard, but surely creamy and pleasing!
i don't know how many synthesis dealers you have where you are- but they're italian and really sweet sounding amps too! we have a local dealer here in the washington dc area, and i love them.. AND they look cool..
good luck!
EICO HF-81 seems very good.

lemme know how it works out- curious to see what you come up with!yrs
I would stay away from 2A3 SE on your budget -- you will probably need more power than you can get from that amplifier. You will not be able to purchase Fostex units for $40 per speaker new; however you might find some for that price used on auctions. You might also look for similar speakers from Radio Shack, etc.Go to http://melhuish.org/audio/DIY.html (click the link below) and check out the various DIY designs. I recommend looking at the "TQWT/T-Line" category and the "Rear Horn" category. Here is another good page to check:
