Welcome! GXAlan
what gear and cabling is in your System?
Follow Ups:
The SA-10 is currently connected to the PM-10 via Canare quad cable from World's Best Cables. Then Monster Z2 cables to a pair of Onkyo-Takamine D-TK10's. They were Japanese-only mini monitors which live on as Kiso Acoustic speakers. The cabinets are from Takamine, the guitar manufacturer, and utilized fully custom drivers which are probably the reason why Onkyo went out of business :) The flagship Kiso Acoustic is better but the entry level Kiso Acoustic uses more conventional drivers.
I have owned Focal, Magnepan, JBL Synthesis, Sony ES, and TAG McLaren speakers over the years, but those Onkyo's are the real deal. You give up a lot because it's so small, but then there's no cabinet effect since the cabinets are so small. I have my JBL S/2600 (Mini Everest) for the times I want scale.
The main weakness of the SA-10/PM-10 combo is that you are dependent on your room. Today's advanced room correction can make a bigger difference in a poor room. But having compared against all sorts of different products ranging from a 300B SET to other hyper-real clinical perfection amps, I genuinely think the Marantz 10 series is the true all arounder.
The Marantz SACD 30n/Model 30 is a clear value champion though if you want the Marantz reliability and sound.
Excellent! GXAlan
