I would strongly avoid running wifi for large data transfers: all you are doing is needlessly exposing your body and brain to radiation. And while it is true that this obeys the inverse square rule (so if you keep 4m away from the base station, the effect will be 1/16th that of being 1m away), it still penetrates through walls, and there is now a large body of literature on its capability to damage DNA, so just use a cable and stay healthy without the risk, the slow speeds, or the risk.
Follow Ups:
I agree. There is one outspoken person I know of in the alternative media about this, here name is Deborah Tavares. I've listened to a lot of her interviews on YouTube. There is no way around this as others have said, on top of it most people are penetrated with cell and microwave towers as well as their smart meters in their homes which measure everything from electricity to water. Making matters worse the Lilly wave can be used to pulsate through electrical wiring in the house making us stuck in an electrical cage in our own homes. This is all documented and fact, people make fun of us now. They won't know what has happened to them until it is too late.

...and just about any retail establishment. ;-)
...and as the wifi radiation penetrates through walls make sure that you live in a remote place with no adjacent neighbours. Never go to a large town or city as that radiation spreads into the street. In fact so prevalent is wifi these days that I would avoid small towns too, just to be safe.
