New Marantz Gear.
Follow Ups:
Ken Ishiwata is a salesman as well as a technician, I do not care for any of his latest products.
One-box SACD player is still in my thoughts
Well, compared to the $10,000 that had been hinted at earlier, the $7,000 is almost welcome news.
You may recall I had been trying to deice between the SA11S3 ($4000) and the SA14S1 ($2,500) and decided to try the latter. (Hoping to get a digital source of roughly the same quality as my vinyl source, a Well-Tempred Table and Van den Hul Frog.) Although the jury is still out, my current feeling is that the SA14S1, playing SACD's (but not CD's) can come close to the vinyl. I think $7,000 is too much for me in any case.
Didn't Ken Ishiwata and Marantz launch a special edition "Pearl" range of components about 5 or 6 years ago? They were rather pricey for what you got, until the retailers started blowing them out of inventory at bargain basement prices.Denon did something similar with their 100th anniversary PMA-A100 integrated, DPA-100 TT, DCD-A100 CDP. Huge price premium and then the blow out sales.
I'm always cautious with these "premium" components from consumer mass market brands. Not that Marantz is bad but I'm always thinking "resale value". Maybe it's just me. Anyway, I like Marantz and own one of their amps.

Yes on both accounts- Abe.
Looking forward to the reviews!
Thanks for posting this. I'm interested in the SA10. I have an Sa7-S1 but I'm limited to CDs and sacd. Look forward to reviews later this year.
I also bought a SA7-S1 sold it after a month and so did the guy I sold it to. The first Positive Feedback reviewer of this obese player ,said he was sending it off for modification, I can well understand why, but fail to understand why others like this player.
The DAC on this unit seems interesting. According to the brief description here, it may take a similar approach to the software program HQ player, which has gotten good reviews on the computer audio forum. (At least according to my weak understanding.)
"The player doesn't stop at CD and SACD playback, and will recognize discs burned with hi-res files, or those taken from a USB source. Marantz calls the SA-10 a "clean design" product, preferring to build it from the ground up, rather than re-use established techniques, including a new way of converting digital signals over to analog. All digital signals, whether they're from a disc of file, are converted over to DSD256 — four times the sample rate SACD uses — then passed through a DSD converter before reaching the amp. Other amps down-convert to PCM, but Marantz says its way results in the purest sound."

Has anyone moved on this gear?
Yes I have...
Just received it about a week ago. It replaced the SA11S3, so, all I can say is that it is better than the SA11S3.
I am still forming an opinion, but first impressions are very positive!
I have a full line of Marantz, the MA9S2 and the SC7S2.
One might think I love Marantz and they can do no wrong, well, I do love them, but I buy based on my assessment of the component and price / accessibility (affordableness), not to say that $7K is affordable for anyone!
As Ivan pointed out, there are others in that price range I would at least consider if not buy.

I checked a couple of web sites and they both said the PM-10 is 200wpc/8 ohms and 400wpc/4 ohms.
I had a Marantz Ref Series Int Amp ( 15 S2 or something like that) that was 70 watts into 8 Ohms, but when I got my
McIntosh 6900 Int Amp ( 200 watts), I realized I didn't like the Marantz very much at all, which I was suspecting anyway.
But neither was anywhere as expensive as this new Marantz.
I do like my Marantz 7007 Uni Player that was $1200.
4 or 5 years old by now, never a problem.
I'll look forward to reading reviews of this new stuff, but it could be a while.
Thanks! for sharing info on the 7007 uni.
Esoteric - K-05X, above.
Not that it would be a choice I would have to make soon. :-(
