I have not been able to find better than redbook versions of Tool albums. Do they exist and if so where? If not, does anyone know why not?
Follow Ups:
IIRC they had a falling out with their label Sony. Imagine that. That's why their last album was a double album, because they had so much material saved up. I tried to check this on wiki, and it said the delay was them getting sued by an insurance company. Hmm.
Who knows who owns their catalog now. Tool might not even know.
I'm kind of starting to wonder if both the Tool and Radiohead albums were mixed down to 16/44 for the final mix, and that's why we aren't seeing hi rez reissues. Both these bands have an excellent following, but their glory days are behind them, so you would think that hi rez reissues would be a no-brainer.

Big speakers and little amps blew my mind!
These albums/CDs sounds excellent as is.
There's one missing, hope they get it together.
the original hi-rez.

Some of the vinyl is bootleg, some is out of print and going for hundreds and the rest is garbage. The Tool catalog needs to be remastered by a great engineer offered on audiophile vinyl and also audiophile hi res.
Tools´ "Lateralus" is available as "HDCD", meaning 20Bits of resolution, assuming that you could decode the additional information in your DAC or by software (dBPoweramp for example). Since the Tool albums are really well produced I never really cared for higher resolution BTW... just my cents ;)
