Copland: An Outdoor Overture - Billy the Kid - El Salon Mexico - Rodeo
Colorado Symphony, Litton BIS SACD
I know you don't need another Copland disk but this one is worth the duplication, on a sonic basis alone.
Follow Ups:
When you compare this BIS SACD to the Chandos disc mentioned below, I would point out that BIS offers the full ballets rather than the suites. This is a huge point in its favor over the Chandos disc. Plus, Litton is on top of his game here, and Colorado sounds terrific. This performance of Rodeo could possibly become my favorite, and Billy the Kid comes quite close to Slatkin/St. Louis (my own personal benchmark recording). Because the suites omit some splendid music from the complete scores, I can't see any reason to "settle" for the Chandos disc. In this context, I think "more Copland" is better than "less Copland." Just my opinion, of course.

The Chandos disc includes the Appalachian Spring Suite, but slightly shortens Billy the Kid and Rodeo. I would be interested in hearing opinions on the merits of the 2 discs.
I'm also interested in both the new BIS and Chandos releases, and it will be interesting to compare them to the recent Naxos Blu-ray audio disc of Slatkin and the Detroit SO in a similar Copland program (one of the few times over the last decade or so that Slatkin has actually shown signs of life on a recording!).
(I suppose it's hopeless to continue my four-year-long exhortation to BIS to offer MULTI-CHANNEL downloads on their eClassical site. Chandos has been doing it for far longer than that - what's so hard about offering multi-channel downloads, Robert and George?)
Thanks! for sharing- TGT.
