I read that the fan only comes on for Bluray discs. Is that your experience? I can imagine that the noise would be intrusive!
Follow Ups:
After enjoying a top TEAC transport (in player without fan) never go backwards to Oppo 95 even if electronics inside are pretty good. Dan's 95 tube mod. Sota? Nah, no way. It's good for spendy budgeteers but far from revelatory. The Sota sacd/redbook setup I've heard is pCS Scarlatti transport/dac. For price it had better slay mass market Oppo with or w/o Modwright tube mod and it does. Have not heard the latest Playback Design/EMM Labs disc players. Esoteric K-03 easily bests Dan's Oppo 95 as well.
I had the Playback Designs CD player and my Modright modded Oppo 95 killed it. I have not heard the K-03, but I bet my Oppo would beat it.
but I only have about 2" clearance from the top of the 95 to the bottom of the shelf above it and the stock feet sit on rubber/cork footers which maybe gives it a little less than 2" clearance underneath.
many good things, but fan noise could be a deal-breaker. Or not?
Question. Why does the newfangled technology have to be modded with
old fashioned (Tubed) technology. The other Wright(Allen) turned
out many mods of fine quality with no tubes to found anywhere?
HAVE to be. I imagine you might be able to guess why some people do it and like it, though.
It's a deal breaker for me. I have a very quiet environment, and the added noise raises my noise floor significantly.
