As I said above, if there is no SACD available of a title that is out on XRCD I would probably buy the XRCD specially if the title was from the Warner or other DVD-A camp company with not much hope of getting to SACD in the near future. As far as comparison of XRCD and SACD goes presuming that they were both equally as well mastered I don't believe that any "Redbook" CD can approach the sound quality or have the attributes the equivalent SACD. Having said that there are some fabulous "Redbook" CDs out there. For instance, if I couldn't get an SACD of Clapton's 'Unplugged' (not very likely), I would love to see it on XRCD and I'd run out and buy it. I also find the XRCD mastering of Dire Straits 'Brothers In Arms' really good.
I also have a couple of Jacintha SACD titles and really like them a lot.

frustrating , and aggravating , for you .You are just going to have to continue on with your ritual of purchasing SACDs of music that you really don't want to listen to .
LOL
Since I collect neither DVD-Audio or SACD and I can choose from litterly millions of LPs and pre-recorded 4 Track 7 1/2 IPS Reel to Reel tapes.First off 60% of DVD-Audio releases are from the SILVERLINE whose DVD-Audio's not only sound worse than CDs they sound worse than 8 Track Cartridges. I usually don't believe in Capitol punishment but the owner's of that company should be shot.
Second, AIX DVD-Audio's are multi-mic'ed and sound it. Everything I hate about multi-mic'ed recordings are evident on these.
Third, only about 10 of the Warner Bros. titles did I like as most of it is junk! And watermarked as well.
Four the EMI classic DVD-Audio's are mixed to 24 Bit 48kHz masters for some stupid reason and sound terrible.
Now for the High Rez music I have replaced on LP.
DVD-Audio: 0, with 1 potential
24/96 DAD DVD: 4
SACD: 13, and even more on my want list as in the entire Groove Note catalog, by the time I replace all my favorite SACDs with their LP versions the total will be over 100.These are the recordings from DVD-Audio I have replaced on LPs:
NONE for now but I am looking for Mobile Fidelity's version of Grateful Dead's American Beauty at a decent price. These are the recordings from 24/96 DAD DVD I have replaced on LPs:
BACHARACH, BURT: Casino Royale
HORNER: Glory - Orginal Motion Picture Soundtrack
RACHMANINOFF: Symphonic Dances; Vocalise
WEAVERS: Reunion at Carnegie Hall - 1963These are the recordings from SACD I have replaced on LPs:
ANTILL: Corroboree GINASTERA: Panambi Suite
BARBER, PATRICIA: Modern Cool
BELAFONTE: At Carnegie Hall (RCA Living Stereo)
BRUBECK, DAVE QUARTET: Time Out
COPLAND: Appalachian Spring GOULD: Spirituals (Everest)
GOTTSCHALK: Night In The Tropics GOULD: Latin American
OFFENBACH: Gaite Parisienne / Fiedler, Boston Pops (RCA Living Stereo)
PINK FLOYD: Dark Side of the Moon
RHAPSODIES / Stokowski, RCA Victor Symphony (RCA Living Stereo)
RICH, BUDDY & HIS BIG BAND: Greatest Band I Ever Owned (LP title Class of '78)
TERRY, CLARK: Portraits
THOMSON: The Plow That Broke the Plains; The River
TYNER, McCOY QUARTET: New York ReunionSACD has lucky enough to be able to release some of the Greatest (musically and sonically) recordings of all time the Vanguard and Everest recordings (which are even better on LP), DVD-Audio has Grateful Dead and Mickey Hart actually 24/96 DVD DAD has a much better selection of great recordings from Chesky and Classic and better sonics than DVD-Audio BUT STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
The only SACDs I ever bought that I really didn't want to listen to were the PCM drab from Universal and the Rolling Stones SACDs. The AUDIOPHILE SACDs have FANTASTIC music that is totally enjoyable, but most of the Audiophile SACD companies make even better Audiophile LPs.
So when I get everything on my LP want list: those I have owned on DVD-Audio will number 1; On 24/96 DAD will number 4; On SACD will number over 100.
Thus SACD has better music than DVD-Audio. Better performers, better record companies (over 150 at last count, and at least 50 of these are the greatest recording companies in the world) and WAY, WAY, WAY better sound.
That is how it stands, I think it's the DVD-Audio colectors who are buying music they don't want to listen to.
ZS KEKL you are barking up the wrong tree, as SACD has some fantastic music and maybe someday when it sounds as good as Analog, I'll be back. It does have the potential to sound as good as analog and live music if the masters are Analog or DSD and with some furthur improvements in hardware. But DVD-Audio has no hope to sound realistic as it is burdened by PCM!
