If huge companies have to abide by the rules, why don't consumers? It's too hard and time consuming to go after them. A company caught is fined $100,000 for each computer using an unlicensed piece of software and risks being shut down. It is not our Gd given right to purchase software and distribute it how ever we please, period. If you want to listen to it somewhere else, take it with you. Gary.

I can't rip my own CD (a CD I purchased with my own money) onto MP3 and transfer to my own portable MP3 player?
How is that illegal?
It's not illegal and you have every right to make as many copies as you want for your own use; if anyone 'assumes' you're making copies of CDs you don't own that's their problem. You keep on burnin' with impunity and let them get a life.
that you record CDs you don't own. No manner of denial is going to convince most folks that you don't because the majority of folks who copy digitally ARE breaking the law, at least some of the time.
