I am with you. There is quite a bit of stuff along this same vein. you might like Devendra Banhart (a little more out there, but folky) Trash Can Sinatras (quieter, less acoustic, but not boring). The Decemberists can do stuff like SKM at times as well, although they are far more eclectic.

I've only heard of the Decemberists, but have not actually listened to anything they've done. I'll check all these out.
