and what a difference they make!
The kit included the pads (soft leather), double-sided tape precut to the correct dimensions, and new shields for the drivers.
Not only are the cans more comfortable with the new pads but almost all of the characteristic Stax "burp" has been eliminated.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Follow Ups:
I have virtually no farting with my SR-507 pair, which uses original pads. The 207 pair could easily fart away when I'd open my mouth or move my head.
"'Cause when love is gone, there's always justice./And when justice is gone, there's always force./And when force is gone, there's always Mom. Hi Mom!" Laurie Anderson, "O Superman (For Massenet)"
they're no gassier now than the SR-5.
Damn, I love 'em too. I might never use speakers again.

See the link below for my attempted solution to the 'burp' noise. I have the SR404LE leather pads on my SR202.

Got it bookmarked.
The new 'pads solved my problem. With the old pads, I couldn't even drink coffee without both channels farting away like the campfire scene in Blazing Saddles .

I'm currently listening to my little SR-003 Mk2 'baby Stax' headphones (er, earspeakers) and they are fart-free without any modification (also better if you wear glasses). Sound quality is very good, comparable to the SR002. They seem to fit comfortably for me but others have had problems with comfort. Now I see they have retrofit earpieces that should eliminate any discomfort.
The first Stax I had were SR-44 electrets. They were agonizingly uncomfortable but they sounded so good I didn't care.
The SR-5 are more comfortable than the Lambda Pros; I could wear them all day without a problem. The Lambdas are quiet that good, but they're worlds better than the SR-44.
