So I called my local dealer (of high fidelity products), and asked if they had any closed back headphones. My wife thinks that she can hear as much music as I can when I listen to my AKG Q701's. My dealer said that he had recently added Meze Classic 99's. Has anyone here heard them? My dealer (of the same said high fidelity products), also said that the Audioquest Nighthawks that he carries are very quiet for the person sitting next to the wearer, even though they are technically semi-open style. Any thoughts and opinions on that also. I can swing the Audioquests if they are that much better, but they have to be quiet. Thanks ahead of time for the help.

You might want to add the Oppo PM-3 to your list. More even frequency response than either the Meze 99 Classics or the NightHawk. Fairly good on isolation too. If you require absolutely no leakage / full isolation, you'll need to look into IEMs.
So, how did they sound?

I won't be able to get down by my dealer until Saturday. I was looking for some insight before I go.

You don't need insight.
You just need your ears.
How lucky you are to be able to hear headphones before you buy. Not everyone can do that.
Good Luck.

I do consider myself lucky to have a dealer who lets me try before I buy. I have taken home amps, pre-amps, and many sets of cables before I bought them. I didn't buy everything that I tried. But I did try everything that I bought before I bought it. Once I took home a tube power amp and didn't care at all for the sound. I took it back and they put different power tubes in and sent it along with me for another try. Then I bought it.
