Both W4S and Peachtree have twelve hundred dollar headphones amps with only digital inputs.
Would you ever buy such a thing? It's instant obsolescence.

I'm not an analogue capable person, but you raise an interesting question (for me at least), since i have never heard of this issue, before. Does adding analog inputs, involve having to place additional "processing" circuits either between the turn table and the headphone amp or inside the headphone amp?
I have to agree ! I still can't get over Ayre not putting Analog inputs on their Codec headphone amp . I guess some makers are not interested in selling to those who already have an external DAC they're quite happy with.
I always wonder which part of the "Damp"(headphone amp / DAC) was the afterthought ! On a more positive note I recently rediscovered how well my McCormack Micro Integrated Line Drive works for me as a headphone amp. It just gets out of the way of anything my Metrum Hex DAC is feeding it . It was a nice surprise to find out that I could simply move two small jumpers internally so that I'd have a little more volume "wiggle" with the high sensitivity / low impedance headphones I'm using.
Yup, I don't need no "stinking" confused identity amplification for my "cans"
Hey, shit happens...
I can think of all sorts of buyers for what would be a "useless" product to you and I.
Like my nephew who is just starting out in life, has little money and no music collection, but enough scratch for a good set of cans, a dac/amp, a laptop, and a good streaming service.
I am not too sure about "instant" obsolescence. The set of digital inputs on these devices seem comprehensive and likely to remain compatible with most (all?) digital sources for the life of the unit.
Not that I would buy one, but horses for courses....
Cerebrate!
Or a DAC which also has a headphone amp built into it?
My Audio-GD DAC/Preamp/Headphone Amp has RCA inputs for the Preamp/Headphone amp part, albeit only one such input.
Never used it as it's mostly used as a DAC and mostly for Headphones.
