Headphones can really bring out the details in recordings and if you are into listening to vinyl records, those *details* might include groove rush, pops, clicks, and noises related to warp and wow. Do headphones and vinyl mix well for you, or do you prefer to stick with "Perfect Sound Forever" CDs or even downloads when using headphones?

I just can't do vinyl + headphones, picks up too much surface noise which I find distracting with headphones.
Of course it's a preference. Clean vinyl with a good signal chain and good 'phones is, like, an excellent audio experience for me.
Yeah, it's definitely a preference thing. I know a few of my friends who dig the experience, some, not so much. I'd used Platine Verdier previously with some choice headphones... and I'm pretty anal about cleaning my LPs (use Audio Intellgent 3-step solutions w/ all my vinyl). But I just couldn't do it.
good vinyl,,tubed headphone amp,,,ah!! it don't get no better.
I was surprised by how good it can sound - was worried there would be too much surface noise etc, but found that not to be the case.
I've only had headphones for about a year (Senn HD-650, with stock wiring driven by the headphone jack on my Arcam integrated), so take this with several grains of salt. It took me a while to get used to vinyl and headphones, but the benefits vastly outweighed the drawbacks for me.
The biggest drawback for me is a double-whammy of sorts. My Rega tonearm is known for clumping the sound at the speakers a bit, and that is more noticeable through the headphones. My primitive headphone rig certainly doesn't diminish this any. Still, I've learned to listen around it and have had a great time. Headphones are a growing part of listening for me (at least 75% of my listening now) and something I plan on investing more into when some cash frees up.
my phones are hooked up to an amp and CD player next to my bed. I listen and read before bed. Otherwise I listen to vinyl mostly with my main system.
I listen to more vinyl than cd or other media on my headphones. I've never had an issue with vinyl noise.
for any media. I do find that headphone listening and loudspeaker listening should not be all that different. That is the goal. If one is different than the other, then that should be a hint that something is less than optimal somewhere.
I stick with whatever music I want to listen to whether it's on ceedee, elpee, even satellite radio or internet radio. I keep my records clean, the TT is set up right and I keep gnrr off the stylus. With no computer in the sound santorum, I don't listen to downloads unless I burn them to ceedee first.
I've got a good mix.
