I am interested in your experience. The designer, Craig Uthus, plans to update the amp with new heaters and OPTs and re-release it some time in the near future.

I'd love to hear one. I drive my HD800s with one of Craig's Zana Deux OTLs and the combo produces the best sound -- speakers or headphone -- I've ever heard. Don't think I'd be able to afford this rebooted Moth based on the price tags of recent Eddie Current products, but have no doubt it'll be superb, sonically and visually.

Craig sure still knows how to build them. I just set up a new ZDT (ZanaDeuxTransformer) headphone/speaker amp based on the 6C33C-B. 8 Set watts for speakers, and headphones - so it will drive planars, and the K1000 if you want.
Sounds spectacular already with a pair of balanced HD800s right out of the box.
I plan to run it in this weekend, then tube roll to a nice NOS GE 12AX7 1961-2.
Congrats! You are in high cotton, as we say down heah.

Perhaps the second generation, once Craig moved the 5ar4 rectifier out of the chassis and mounted it on top. Or it could be a retrofit of the original S2A3, which Moth performed a few times before the punch became too dull to pierce the thick plate-steel top. Does it have binding posts? As a headphone amp, the power transformers would create a tiny bit of hum on very high-efficiency headphones, or so I'm told.
I've owned an original S2A3 since 1999 and love it, although I used it exclusively with speakers until recently. A few months ago, Craig modded it for me by moving the power supply and 5ar4 to an outboard unit and converting DC to high-frequency AC on the 2A3 heaters. Excellent before, it's now in a different league--more liquid and detailed and seductive, more extended at both ends, and with great drive and bass control. And it's dead quiet. On 99 db coaxes I can turn the attenuator wide open, place my ear in the horn and hear absolutely nothing. I bought a pair of Senn HD600 and there's no noise at all. It sounds amazing. Craig says it's dead quiet on high-efficiency phones like Grados, too, although I've never tried any.
Rather timeless.
My thoughts exactly!Makes me wish for my old Technics turntable.

Since you mention it, no. I am looking for a pair to compliment my Yamaha amp. Any suggestions for this Seadrifter? Alan in sunny Seadrift,Tx.

Here in sunny La Grange, I use Denon, Grado and AKG. Personal taste rules. You're close to a Grado dealer that has a few of their models to try, Sweet Spot Audio and More in sunny League City. Grados are extremely easy to drive so there should be no problems.

Not that one, but Craig is great to work with. I ordered a ZDT from him for my office, and it should ship next week.
He sells several other headphone amplifiers as well. His Moth gear is all legendary, and highly reguarded.
