Thanks, I've had this setup since the MK3 was first released and still happy with it. I've tried various tubes and settled on Amperex Bugle Boy EF91's. They really are several steps up from the stock tubes.
Out of curiosity what amplifier did you move on to? And how would you compare it's qualities to the MK3?
Main system- Rotel RCD950, Rotel RC1070, Rotel RB981, Magnepan 10QR, Martin Logan Dynamo sub
Headphone system- Little Dot MKIII, Sennhesier HD 580,
Cambridge Audio 640P phono, Technics
Follow Ups:
The Audeze LCD-2's have largely replaced my Senns. Unfortunately, the Little Dot wasn't a great match with the LCD-2's. I'm pretty happy with a slightly modded Mapletree Audio Ear + Super-II amp. My source is a Modwright Transporter.
That said, I can't say that I enjoy the music any more with my new rig. It does some things much better, but as far a musicality goes -- and musical involvement -- not a huge gain. The grass is not always greener...
The majority of my listening on cans is during the day while (ostensibly) working. Nightime I'm mostly listening to Magneplanar speakers. Guess I just like planar/orthodynamic sound signature.

That's a nice headphone rig you have. I've not heard the LCD-2's but read good things about them.
Me too on the Magnepans, that's what I listen to for my speaker system. Which has me very curious about the Audeze and HiFiman headphones.

That curiosity thing is a killer. I keep thinking I've learned my lesson: "When you've got a balanced system that sounds great, don't f*ck with it"
But then I get curious, and it's back to system-building all over again. Yup, my amp doesn't work with these speakers, guess I need a new amp. Yup my speakers could be upgraded, whoops, now the amp isn't a good match. Yup, it must be my source that's holding me back, gotta upgrade it...
You know the drill. I don't really want to go back to the Little Dot and the HD-580's, but I really enjoyed the combo and could have lived with it indefinitely. Just that curiosity thing...
