I've been tempted by it. In the meantime I'm going to step down a Dynaco ST70 with a pair of 7K output xformers into a Senn HD580 to see what happens.
Follow Ups:
Like the Senn 650s. It will not drive planars very well at all.

My first DIY project was the Bottlehead Crack, with the Speedball upgrade, and a few boutique mods.
Be sure you are using the headphones that match well with this amp, and you will be happy.
Great project to start with, you only need a few hand tools (screwdriver, pliers, wire cutters) and some sort of soldering iron. The fancy solder stations are nice, but not required for this project if you are just trying out DIY. The wood pieces can be assembled with just white glue and some masking tape, and finished with some sandpaper, and one step finish.
Of course you can take it as far as your creativity wants to also. Have a look at the bottlehead forums for some ideas.
Sonically, with the recommended headphones used, this is a terrific unit, especially with the Speedball upgrade.
Almost as good a name as "Schiit Asgard".
Well since all the other Bottlehead products have sexual inuendos like sex, foreplay etc. then Crack makes me a bit suspicious about it's meaning.
THANKS. Now you made me think about what their Straight 8 speakers might be revering to!
No one here remembers the bending of our minds
I'm not imaginative enough to delve too far into those areas of sexual possibilities.
Thats not saying much. I thought thta Schiit amp was non involving and really a poor design. The Matrix M stage stomps it and stomped it by a wide margin.
I built one earlier this year and highly recommend it. The instructions are outstanding. The sound is not syrupy or thick. Although transient attacks are not as sharp as they are on my HeadRoom Little, the Crack is more "musical".
Regards,
Karl
