But, I plug in a microphone and the subs do an automatic equalizer.
With regular subs, I set the crossover at 80hz and set the level using a few well known cuts with excellent drums and/or bass lines. Typically, over time, I'll back off the volume a bit until the sub doesn't stick out and disappears.

At 80Hz what slope to use? My sub offers -6, -12 and -18db per octave.
Is faster slope better to use in small to medium size room?
Typically, you'd want to use the highest, 18db octave, particularly if the sub is not directly between the speakers to avoid localization.
