Seems like it's been their business model forever. They've never been on my radar for that very reason. Younger folks may be able to tolerate a 2 year wait list....older folks like myself find it laughable at best.

  When the SE-84(B) was $500. They've always built to order (i.e., no inventory), but the lead time was very short when I got mine.

    Me, too. I got the $500 84B around '98 or '99. The wait wasn't excessive, maybe five or six weeks. (Best friend Klipsch ever had.)
    
    They just lost one of their main "point-to-point" guys to retirement. Steve is going to have to import some tiny-fingered Asian ladies to man the soldering irons.
