My tirade meant to indicate that
a) a lot of people buying "audiophile" equipment or expensive equipment in general does not give a squat about audiophilia and audiophiles and especially do not give a damn what they think . They buy it because they can afford it and it usually look nicer than the mainstream black box. The add captures it perfectly and makes a perfect sense.
b) the sonic effect of those accidental installations easily rivals "carefully " matched systems proudly displayed and listed with all the details to the type of connector used... Why bother then ?
That's the reason I don't post the details of my system. Again ,why bother if the junk doesn't sound that much better than my fiance's Pioneer boombox and sometimes worse costing 100 times more?
I read the comments about the effect of all those carefully crafted systems and it's usually "almost perfect". I go then to a proud owner and listen and it's just a usual shit which should be available in Walmart for $200 and not $25k based on the final result.
I buy now like the girl on the picture. It has to look cool, a lot of gold and preferably a black acrylic with subtle lines. I then open the window , go on the porch , pour myself a glass of liquor and listen to "the system" watching the cars go by. It allows me to enjoy the music actually, especially that my hearing went down the drain and I don't visit anybody anymore and do not plan to do so.
Happy listening gents! W

No, the real problem is that 30 years which went to drain and nothing to show for it.
sound no better than a boombox. My condolences if that's also true for your own system. Mine is very far from SOTA but nobody would listen and think its only marginally better than a boombox.
I've helped several musician friends who did NOT wanna spend much money purchase inexpensive systems that sure as hell sound considerably better than boomboxes or mass market crap.
You seem to like exaggerating and berating.
and, apparently being an audiophile is not one of his.
Hanging around on audiophile websites and commenting on
them may be as close as he gets nowadays.
