I mean technically speaking? So traditionally transistors produced "notch distortion" was the concern but this is largely eliminated in AB designs. There is no notch distortion per se in case of class D.

There are many types of distortion. I know it when I hear it. I'll leave it to the experts to classify it or measure it. Obviously tube amps theoretically have higher THD than most solid state amps, but the distortion one hears with SS are usually subjectively higher than tubes, but not always. I don't like categorical statements. Ha ha
There are a few here that assert that essentially all s/s is bad because it requires much more negative feedback. That feedback produces higher-order harmonic distortion which is always bad, even at very low levels.
On the flip side the same folks insist that 2nd or 3rd order distortion is benign even at highish levels, and not really heard as distortion per se .
