Does anybody have (or know where I can find) the specs of the Volume & Balance pots of the CTA80?
Volume pot is too noisy (balance is just a little hiss)
They seems to be Bourns pots, I can read the codes on them (I have a pic for the Balance pot too), but I have mailed Bourns twice and they don't seem interested in reply to me.
I cannot identify those pots on the Bourns Catalogue, and without the EXACT specs I cannot obviously choose a replacement, whether it is a Bourns or another alternative pot (like the ALPS Blue pot fitted to the MF MVT preamp, say).
I too have a CTA80 and the pots in mine are noisy but they don't cause me particular problems. I thought about replacing them and, like you, could not find an exact match. The pots in mine are bourns conductive plastic but the look different to the ones in yours, mine have blue bodies (my CTA80 is likely a prototype/pre-production version). From the part code you can work out the value and the taper and then you can find a substitute from Bourns or Alps or someone else. Part of the detailed code number will be about the type of terminals and the dimensions - you probably don't need an exact match there.
Baselines correctly answered this in your identical post below.
Which part did you not understand?
