Of all the ads and banners resulting from website visits, yours is the most annoying and pervasive. Even avoiding your site doesn't work. You've gone from a vendor I would consider to one I wouldn't even pillage if civilization were to end.
I wouldn't be surprised if clicking on my post would infect those who do. If so, I apologize. Now off to Tools to clear, once again, my history. Fuck!

Anyone else getting inundated with marketing emails from Upscale?
I decided to give Ad Block another try. This time it asked me if I wanted to add it to "extensions", whatever that means. Now there's a black blob where the red AB symbol used to be.
No more ads. Hallelujah and Praise Ford In His Flivver.

You might also try using DuckDuckGo as your browser. DDG doesn't do the ad thing like Google or others.
.
It's not the advertising that bothers me so much, I get great results with my ad blocker.
What bothers me is my previous browsing and search history effects my current searches. As if whatever it is I'm currently investigating/researching can be custom tailored based upon my previous inquisitions. As if they feel we are so small minded and myopic that we can be reduced to an algorithm.
I'm in a slow process of evaluating the Brave browser which seems to give some relief.
Funny thing about algorithms and rocket scientists, google, Ebay, and Amazon are hell-bent on getting me to buy something I already did.
Comforting to know, however, that civilizations are transitory but Kevin Deal is eternal.

Go figure?

Better an Upscale Audio ad than Michael Strahan Boxers or Ducolax ads. I actually follow more than a few audio dealers, equipment manufacturers, record labels and audio magazines on my facebook page. I subscribe to Stereophile and admit spending more time looking at ads than reading the rag, and my favorite snail mail item is the Music Direct catalog. Upscale Audio is a blast.
I don't notice the ads until someone complains about them....... [-;
...As a contributing member to the Asylum, the ads no longer show up on Asylum webpages that you are viewing.
I'm referring, as you surely should know, to major news and sports sites. No one except Lithuanian Brides bothers to advertise here, which I actually miss.

Click on every ad of his that you see, that's when it costs him.

You sure it doesn't put a mark on my front door, a la Gandalf, that tells others to visit? It seems that every time I right click on a product and "search Google" for XYZ Widget, then click on an ad, 8 other vendors begin pounding on my door.

that ad blockers will take care of this problem ...

Thanks for the condescension.

Well, I DO see their adverts in my paper copy of Stereophile each month, but?
Nope, can't say that I've ever seen any of their advertisements while browsing this website or any other. About the only ad I see is the (rather small) Parts Connexion banner ad.

Had it aboard two years, even gave then $25 bucks. Just as many ads popped up. Oh sure, you can right click and designate it, then it goes away...for a few minutes. Upscale and some others, clothing I never clicked on for example, have some kind of work around.
What do you know about having ti be effective?
Nostalgia's not what it used to be
Some sites deny me access unless I pause ad blocker.
Having to pause on certain sites, a growing number, was the only part that worked.
Perhaps I didn't set it up correctly but the download gave the impression it was get in and go.
SI.com, NBCSports.com, CBSSports.Com, AP, you name it, it was Pop-up city. When you right click on the ad it turns grey and there's a dialogue that tells you to left-click to close. 10 seconds later Kevin Deal and every tchotchka under the sun are right back.

Did you add the Easy List?
Without adding a list you would have to block each add manually.

"Still Working the Problem"
The timing of your rant is kind of funny.
Just yesterday morning I was sitting at the kitchen table with my lovely bride. We were both reading things on our iPads and enjoying a coffee. She wanted to share a news photo in a story she was reading on her iPad with me. When she handed me her iPad, imagine my surprise to find Upscale Audio adds in the margins of the story she was reading on her iPad!
She wouldn't be caught dead on this board, so I can only assume that Upscale Audio adds are like the CoViD-19 ... they spread like a virus.
Uncle Kevin is getting some very effective advertising for his money if it infects non-audiophiles too.
I do agree that the Upscale adds are becoming a bit much.
They are going by the IP address and all home routers present internal addresses as the same to the external world so the ad targeter doesn't know the difference. Cookies are not super reliable, but short term IP address is.This fact explains many of the spooky observations that people think are spyware listening in to conversations and doing voice recognition. That may happen occasionally but only when you're a target of an intelligence/police investigation. Otherwise their injection techniques will be come more apparent and the battery life/consumption high which would induce the tech companies to look into it.
Except obviously Alexa. She is plugged in and listening and assimilating with the Borg of Bezos.
PS: if you suddenly get advertisements for 'divorce lawyer' unexpectedly---get one yourself asap!

I'd rather things play out like some futuristic David Mamet script. Now, where did I put those leads, ere I mean data.
Though working in print, design, advertising and marketing over 40 years does force me to wear an extra heavy duty tin foil hat.
There is nothing wrong with your television... I mean smart TV.

Thanks, Doc. That makes perfect sense and explains a lot.
Best.
Any voice activated command device will also pick up key words you speak and tailor ads to your interests.
Cheers!

"I know just enough to get into trouble. But not enough to get out of it."
That' a possible explanation, except we don't have one.
The South Park episode about Alexa was enough to convince me we didn't need one of those things.
Unless they're different brands or models. In any case, if you're on your WiFi, both devices will be seen as a common IP routing out to your ISP. That's why I always get ladies lingerie ad, must be hers.
-Rod
As much as I like to believe otherwise, it makes sense.
My wife and I don't have tablets, instead using our cellphones for all our browsing. We don't get any common ads. Is that because cell phones behave differently?
Cheers!

"I know just enough to get into trouble. But not enough to get out of it."
Well, it depends on whether it's WiFi or cell signal.
But, if you have a Google email account that is known by the cell phone, they own you.
-Rod
Yes, wi-fi and Google email account.
There's no escape!
Cheers!

Cell phones will also pick up key words. We did some tests at work in 2 different departments. Each department only had 3 or 4 personal cell phones laying around. Nor talking on rhem or anything.
One department discussed car parts/repairs. The other, cottage life and bears. Within a couple hours, ads were popping up on our computers relative to the discussions. Only of course if we were logged into our personal accounts shared with the cell phones. There's some interesting articles on the net about key word capturing.
Ah, Southpark! I'm dying to catch up on the years of episodes I've missed. Stopped watching when the kids got married and moved out. Thing is I can't get my wife to watch them with me on our TV. Maybe I can stream them on my phone. (Wonder if I'll see some Southpark ads pop up!)
Cheers!

"I know just enough to get into trouble. But not enough to get out of it."
I did the experiment of talking about a topic unrelated to our lives with my wife and sure enough we started getting ads about it. I have Alexa set up but only use it to turn on the lights and equipment. Nobody else in the house likes using it. It isn't worth giving up your privacy for that and I should turn it off.
But the cell phones are harder as we've come to depend on them for so much. I just now after I wrote that turned Siri off since I can't remember the last time I used it anyway.
Some say it's a myth. Some articles I've read tell you what embedded code to look for allowing the app to collect data.
Fits right in with some of our engineer vs what we supposedly hear topics, LOL!
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers!

I got an ad from Upscale over the weekend. Was that due to visiting this site?
Kevin loves you!
Is that really Uncle Kevin?
That is a heavy amp he has in his lap.
(85 lb.s, but it feels heavier than that!)
