|For Sale Ads|
I look at the new two days..
So many folks are relisting stuff they just posted a few days prior. I guess to keep it at the top?
And the crap listings? LOL, make for hilarious reading.
The latest are the flock for big bucks, listing endless old junk.
Kind of like a Craig's list for old audio crap.
I never did think 'free' was the right way to allow folks to list stuff.
As the for sale ads get more popular here, they also are gaining way more junk/crazy listings.
It IS true I can ignore them. But I thought I would comment, and see if anyone else thinks the system needs a tune up? Perhaps a small fee, if for nothing than to cut the early re-listings, and the junk.
Again, I can skip whining and live with it easy.... I just wonder if anyone else thinks it is getting bad?
I quit looking at the Classifieds here ... too many posts "US addresses only". No Earthly use for someone in Canada like myself.
There is no surprise there. Who would like to deal with Canadians? They always complain about shipping chargers, are often problematic and act like they are third world poor. Typical commonwealth behavior very common to people from UK , CA and AU :)
I posted a Pre-amp (6/13)- sold before end of day- with a back-up interested
Just listed a CDP-
Seems to be working well...
I agree about "free listings" being a bad strategy.
A lot of good things happen when you make people pay something.
At least charge $5, or even better $10. Then put a 1% (w a max of $20)voluntary donation option.
Put that money back into making the trading section better.
That's my "free" advice. Not worth much is it?
I would guess payments turn into money to pay taxes on. Where the donations to help keep the site running may fall under some protected status (as far as taxes go, nonprofit?)
Selling ads becomes for profit, and may be a true PITA.
Or at least the effort to keep it clear all is non profit? may be a problem.
I know Audiogon way back charged $2 a pop, and one could have a credit account/prepaid account. (In fact Audiogon STILL owes me $18 they swallowed with no comment at all, the bastards, after the changeover from the original Michigan dude to the dude East. By now, with interest AND penalties, Audiogon owes me like $87,020. easy.)
Yeah that would pretty much dry up most listings. IMO of course.
"that would pretty much dry up most listings"
Meaning..?.. people wouldn't post listings on AA because they wouldn't want to pay $5?
Yep. That's exactly what I mean.
Most people that use this site are too cheap to pay the $25 contrbutor fee. I doubt very much that they would pay any kind of a listing fee!
Right. Doesn't sound like much but it's more the hassle/inconvenience than the money.
How about a new equipment smell air freshener? lol
You guys can drink that old grape juice. I want to drink fresh wine from a box that hasn't been crushed. And I'm gonna whine until I get some o' that fresh wine.
"Again, I can skip whining and live with it easy"
Take your own advise
maybe to stop the re-listings, make it so it can be re-listed until the ad has been on here for xx amount of time----say 30 days. then after that it can be re-listed.
we dont need to start adding fees.....
