And of those at least 250,000 are just crap fit for a dumpster.
So then another 5,000 albums somebody someplace might be willing to take for a buck
Then the 3,000 worth maybe $2
the 1,000 worth maybe $5
And a 1,000 someone would actually really want.(of those maybe 200 which are great and wonderful)
THAT is the reason for no cherry picking. He does not want to have to rent a dumpster to dispose of the 250,000 of total dreck.
Naturally this is speculation.. But in my experience, what I wrote is totally true.

I pretty much agree with you.
Hell, even cherry picking that collection would be difficult unless he's
got them meticulously organized, which I am inclined to doubt.
Just boxing it up and moving it and unloading it at destination is gonna
be a major chore ...
I tend to agree with you. And, this guy isn't a collector - he's a hoarder with a major problem on his hands.
When I told my wife the story, she said, "I bet he's not married." Hahahahahaha!
I'd give him $200 for the 50 records I actually want, which would increase my collection by about 25 percent.
