For the second time this year a purchase from China/Hong Kong has been misdirected. They arrived in Los Angeles were I reside but sit around for days. Eventually they clear customs and delivered into the hands of the USPS were they again sit around for days. Suddenly tracking information indicates their on the move again. To the fxxxing east coast never to be seen by myself.
Submitting a lost mail form does no good. The first lost package was replaced by the ebay seller. I'm now communicating with the eBay seller about the second package. All things considered the USPS does a decent job; but, wtf.
This is my most memorable handoff from FedEx to the USPS. The letter quoted below tells the story.
It is with great relief that I can announce to you that the notorious roaming package has finally found its way back to the (company name removed) office. The package travelled for 78 days and made 13 stops in 8 different states. A true shipping anomaly if there ever was one. Needless to say, we will never attempt to send anything to you via FedEx SmartPost ever again. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us. I am saving the box (replete with stickers, stamps and handwritten directions from thirteen different shipping facilities) in my office to memorialize this affair. We truly thank you for your understanding during this immensely frustrating process. Have a Happy Holiday Season.

According to Amazon tracking, USPS claims to have left a parcel in my mail box, but I didn't find it there. I've waited, hoping a neighbor received the parcel by mistake, but no such luck. It's not obvious what remedy I have.
I tip mine generously during the holidays. He leaves large packages on my back porch and I never have a problem with incorrectly delivered mail. Except that time that he was on holiday......
Good luck with it.
