Good thing Apple has their own version. Gutted, desiccated music shall live on at $.99 per song eventually to be the only type of music you are allowed to purchase.

AAC is not "Apple's Version" it is MP4 from the same foundation that MP3 came from. It is also much better than MP3.

It has been well known for many years that AAC which Apple has been using for it's music downloads sound significantly better than MP3 at a given bitrate. AAC 256Kbs from Apple is excellent for mass market consumer consumption, but I still rip my own CDs in uncompressed lossless format.The point is almost moot because downloads have been in decline industry wide. Streaming is where it's at and we have a few services that offer high quality lossless streaming.
