Yeah, I've heard of odd things. My problem is that I need a url that causes it. Then, I can fix it if it's consistent.
What you're describing might be either some big cache update jobs or timeouts, ot ISP issues. Do the posts show up later when you go back? Then, I know that we're getting the data. Why it happens is the question. Is it often, or just once in a while?
What device are you using?

Follow Ups:
Im unable to get any pages to load on my desktop with Charter ISP.
This phone which is connected to the Charter modem works fine
I tried removing cookies, deleting favorite and typing in new AA URL no luck pig UN
Weird. Did this happen just recently or a while ago.
We flipped over to the secure connection on March 21st, so if it's been over a month, then it could have something to do with that change. Does the same connection work with other sites?
-Rod
All others no problem but its only about a week
I can only guess that it's a problem with cache or something strange. Have you tried powering down everything and then trying it?
The only other things that I can imagine would be a DNS problem with the ISP or possibly a compression issue. We gzip output to reduce the size of data transfer and speed things up. It used to be recommended to not compress data on an SSL connection, but it seems fine, but perhaps a few ISP can't handle it.
If nothing changes, I can turn off compression just to see if that might be the problem.

No idea what any of that means.
I guess after 16 years its Happy Trails
Example, thread just below this one:
https://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/t.mpl?f=general&m=726003
shows as (in each browser):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane."
So it looks like you're not seeing any images, right?
Did you ever get a warning that there is insecure content? If so, you may have answered to never show that content. If that content were a script or something like that, it's a good idea. For images, it's silly, but that's the way things are with browsers these days.
The issue is that user uploads get loaded to a different url, usr.audioasylum.com. We haven't paid the security police for yet another ssl certificate for that url and all the old posts will have that url.
Anyway, I tweaked the web server and the thread script to workaround the problem. Does the link below look right now?
The workaround isn't a long term solution, but it should work until we spend more money and implement a long term fix.
My Firefox has AddBlock+, but Chrome is stock.
Now, for more confusion:
If I want to see just the top message i.e.
https://www.audioasylum.com/audio/general/messages/72/726003.html
it shows photos, first capture (sorry for white bottom areas of the capture, cant get rid of it at the moment).
Also, whichever individual post I clicked in the tread, it showed photos. No issues.
However, whether I
a)go to General page and click on the number of posts next to the message
or
b) click on All at the top message header,
the same link opens (second and third capture):
https://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/t.mpl?f=general&m=726003
But, in the first case Firefox gives it a green lock, in other case a gray with triangle. But neither loads the page?!?!?
I am glad that I am not programmer.
I figured out where Firefox was dying. Apparently, it's more picky with slashes.
Thanks for the help.
I just downloaded Firefox and it seemed to work fine. After installing Ad Blocker, I got strange results. Sometimes, it displayed pages just fine. Other times, it would act like it's loading forever and I'd just get the header and a blank page below, like your screen grab. What's strange is that it's hit and miss.
If I login which disables the Google Ads, then, it's fine. So, the short term fix is to either become a contributor or disable Ad Blocker for the Asylum.
Did you say that Chrome had the same problem without Ad Blocker? If so, what are you using? Windows, Mac, tablet?
-Rod
Now both Firefox and Chrome work.
I keep Chrome stock for those cases when Firefox (with or without ABP) has issues. However, the issue persisted in Chrome. It looked the same as picture 2 in my prior post (sans insecure message).
It is a laptop, Win 10 upgraded from Win 8 upgraded from Win 7. Did not go to Ubuntu for a while.
Thanks
I'm getting the same thing using Chrome, IE, or whatever came with Windows 10...can't remember the name!
