Even with the Cambridge unit on standby all the time? I'm not going to turn it off between uses.
Follow Ups:
Should work. I use this unit to turn on my powered speakers when my TV is turned on (which is in standby when off).
Try one and let us know. Good luck.
Yeah I'll give this one a shot http://a.co/dMGF6ga
It's the only one without a boatload of negative reviews. Tripp Lite is based here in Chicago, so that's a bonus too.
I'll report back once it's all here and setup. Thanks!
Best Buy used to sell one made by Rocketfish that works pretty well, I have two. Only use it to make things easier on the little lady, one button to turn all the equipment on. A Harmony remote will also work but a bit more expensive. Only problem I found with the master control power strip is my Carver pre doesn't draw enough juice for the power strip to sense so I plugged the tuner into the Carver's rear utility outlet. This way when the pre is energized the extra draw of the tuner triggered the power strip.

Yes, making it easier on the wife was definitely a consideration!
The Tripp Lite I referenced a few posts back works great I'm happy to say! I'm using the 851Ns standby mode instead of the network standby mode to save power. Perhaps I'll try the other when I plan to be home more often.
Nice - using the tuner piggy-backing on the preamp was a great idea, Martin!
