On a flight years ago, I asked to listen to the Bose headphones of the guy next to me with my iPhone using lossless content.
What I found was they were incredibly inefficient and dull sounding as compared to my Shure 535s.
No, thank you on multiple fronts. :)
Follow Ups:
For air travel, I started out with Etymotic ER-6i, then Shure E2C, before getting Bose QC15. The Bose QC15 sound quality is pretty average, but the comfort, convenience, and isolation makes them worth it for long haul international flights. Ideally I would have both: a pair of good sounding IEMs for listening to music when nobody is going to bug me, and the Bose for meal time, watching movies, and just chilling.
I use a Peltor commercial ear protector whenever I fly. What's very interesting is that I've seen modded versions which have speakers in them (no, I'm not talking about the DC headphones). But I'm seriously thinking about getting an Audio-Technica or Sennheiser noise-cancelling headphone. Your thoughts?
:)
When shopping for noise canceling headphones, to use when traveling, I tried a pair of Bose but settled on Sony. The Bose had a better noise canceling technology but the Sony's sounded better at a fraction of the cost.
