Oh No...
2017 is off to a shaky start for rock legend Eric Clapton as he battles a bout of 'severe bronchitis' that's left him temporarily sidelined and forced to cancel a set of Los Angeles dates, pushing them back to September.
From a statement released: "Due to severe bronchitis and under doctor's advisement, Eric Clapton is rescheduling this weekend's two shows at The Forum in Los Angeles."
Fans are understandably disappointed, but it's a recently surfaced photo of Clapton in a wheelchair that's got them more than a little worried.
Moving through LAX with his daughters late last week when a fan snapped a photo of him in a wheelchair, Clapton looks to be taking it easy these days as he recovers from his illness and at 72, it goes without saying that something like bronchitis could very easily spell disaster if left unchecked so thankfully, he's taking the necessary steps to get the much needed rest that will allow him to heal and recover.
Follow Ups:
He put on a nice show but was showing his age. His guitar playing was excellent (no surprise) but he didn't move much and he didn't say much. He was wearing a knee brace. Compared to some of the other "old timers" we have seen in recent years (The Stones and Fleetwood Mac), Clapton was a bit of a let down. I have no regrets seeing him because he is the only "legend" that I have wanted to see perform live but have not seen yet so I can cross him off my bucket list, but I really regret not getting tickets to see the Cream reunion a few years ago.
I hope he gets better soon, but I don't think he is going to tour much anymore.
72 isn't particularly old, but yeah, it is "getting" old. Bronchitis at ANY age can be a bitch. I hope he's on some serious anti-biotics and will be well soon!Still, it must have been very cool for the agent to phone home and say "you will never guess whose wheelchair I pushed!"

That's too bad. My wife's cousin and his son from North Carolina flew out to LA for the Clapton concert. They'll have to reschedule. I saw him a couple times when he passed thru Denver a few years ago. Hope he get better quickly. Thanks for posting.
Nice pic- another rider?
he didn't look happy that his pic was being taken. i too need a wheelchair in the airport as i don't walk so good anymore. arthritis and spinal stenosis can cause that.
that and a TSA pass gets you through the crowds quite fast. some of the airports have VERY long distances between ticketing and terminal destinations. AND you get on the plane first and get to pick you seat sometimes.
i would rather not have the infirmity though.

Not good news.
Last time I saw Eric (who comes from the next village to me) he was with the Yardbirds, playing at the Guildford Art School Christmas Party as the supporting act to Sonny Boy Williamson. Yes, I'm the same age as Eric - ancient!
I did not need to know that.Check out his DVD "One More Car, One More Rider" from 2001. Play it LOUD.
All my best wishes, always, to Mr. Clapton.

Agreed. I'm wondering what the point was for posting a pic of Clapton
in a very unflattering circumstance? Is that something you would want for yourself?
I don't think so.
I didn't post the pic.
I'm just another fan.
:)
Sorry. My post was really directed at the OP but I mistakenly
posted it to your comment.
dirty laundry........
It's unsettling to see rockers in wheelchairs. How long before Mick Jagger turns up behind a walker, or Keith Richards using a glitter cane?
Our heroes are getting old, just like us.
