...Electronica, EDM, opera, classic rock, 50s rock-n-roll, large ochestral works-esp Mahler, anything baroque, anything not featuring a female vocalist, anything featuring pipe organ and esp silent era theatre organ, post 60s Jazz...shall I continue?
Oh wait.......that was another of my apparently too subtle attempts at humor. I take it you haven't heard those hoary old arguments spewed forth by one sect of audiophillia as they attempt to discredit another sect over something like the physical directionality of cryoed cartridge fuses etc. But I digress.......

but types of music - hmmmmm
...but the argument has been made, sometimes by those whom ought to know better.
"...Electronica, EDM, opera, classic rock, 50s rock-n-roll, large ochestral works-esp Mahler, anything baroque, anything not featuring a female vocalist, anything featuring pipe organ and esp silent era theatre organ, post 60s Jazz...shall I continue?"You've made several interesting points here and previously. I'll take them one at a time, so that some people won't be tempted (or confused) to lump them all together and subsequently dismiss me as a quack, fuddy-duddy, or worse... experienced.
Deaf: I'm only deaf parttime, such as when my wife reminds me to take out the trash. Inexperienced listener: If you read my inmate profile, you'll see that I did sound for a rock band for a while. However, the constant parade of hot chicks hitting on me just got to be too much. Just as well, since I quit while I could still selectively turn my deafness on and off (see point #1). With regard to being a musician: All I can say is that I'm glad my inlaws let me marry their daughter anyway. They still might not be entirely comfortable with that, however.
Now, on to musical tastes. Opera - please, make it stop! Mahler - wake me up when it's over. Electronica - I don't listen to it, but I could write that shit all day long. When you say "classic rock", I hope you don't include The Who, The Guess Who, Steve Miller Band, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Robert Palmer, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top. 'Cause if you are, them's fightin' words.
Oh, and, I still say one of the sexiest songs ever recorded is Bette Midler's "Do You Want To Dance?".
Oh, and, one more thing: Belden Rules! ;)
:)

...classic rock includes everyone you mentioned and more. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.
And yes, Belden rules: if it's good enough for use where the music originates it's good enough for me. :)
Just to clarify, I LIKE those bands. Seemed like maybe you thought I DIDN'T like them.
:)
...but rather on the suitability or unsuitability of certain genres of music to ascertain the resolving capabilities of a system. i.e. Music used as a test signal to validate ones purchase of something characterized by gross excess. Quality of composition/writing and performance is irrelevant in this situation.
You mean there are forms of music other than Classic Rock that are worth listening to? I thought everything else was just for use in elevators and passive entertainment while you're sitting on hold.
Ah, well, nice to learn something new, but I gotta get back to gluing the cubic zirconia crytals on the resistor leads in my preamp. Makes that $400 box sound like it cost $100k... :))
