Sorry.....but that establishment is a journey into hell !! A stax amp is still just an amp. Any decent tech in the Seattle will be just fine. Come on guys in the NW.....there must be dozens of techs out there !!
The place in Southern Cal is almost non functioning. Most of the time you get their answering machine. I dealt with them about 6 or 7 yrs ago over a repair that I don't quite remember the details......except it took forever to get them and then another lengthy wait when they did answer their phone. Sounds like it's a one man shop that deals with all sorts, because their handle for Stax stuff is called "Yama" electronics.

Yeah...I do live in the NW.....in Bellingham and I understand why there wouldn't be an expert up here.....but in the entire Seattle-Tacoma area....I can't believe there are not at least 2 or 3 masters who are up here!!So far, nobody has mentioned this option.

And you checked with the guys at Reference Audio in Bellingham? Thought they may have some ideas for you.

Grant
Grant,
I have gone to see those guys a few times. It's a good little shop. Quite a luxury for a college town, however the only tech that I was referred to won't touch tube equipment. I'm actually going down to see the dude today to hand over my Omega Sub-woofer. Something went pop on the amp. He's fine with working on this unit....no tubes!
I'm sure there's some techs down in the Seattle area that are not so exclusive. I'm going to check out if Definitive Audio is still in business. Bought my first Linn LP12 there in 1985......ancient history. There is Advanced Audio in Tacoma as well.
It's been a journey of discovery for better or worse. Eventually I will get connected to the right folks.....slowly but surely.
Regards, Tom B.
Why didn't you say you were from B'Ham in the first place? It's not as if everyone assumed this.
Sorry Bro.....it's been such a big deal leaving Silicon Valley 9 months ago. I keep trying to mention it on some posts, but not enough obviously.
Regards, Tom B. (NW Tommy)
