The most pleasant surprise, by far, at HE2007 was the Sjofn HiFi Guru QM-10P's. These speakers cost only $1,850. and they sound like they should cost 4 to 5 times as much. I was astonished when I heard they cost only $1,850, actually a show price as the post show price might be slightly higher, and they sounded fantastic. I couldn't believe that bass and overall sound quality were coming from such a small and relatively inexpensive speaker. The system I listened to consisted of the following:
Sjofn HiFi Guru QM-10p's $1,850.
Xindak A06 Integrated Amp $400.
Supra Classic 2.5 Speaker Cable $25. 3m pair
Xindak C06 CD player $400.
interconnects ?
The above system offered fantastic sound and the best value I have ever encountered in over 20 years of high end audio listening. I am sure the Guru QM-10p's would sound even better with really top notch electronics, but the fact that it sounded as good as it did with entry level, albeit well chosen and high quality, is a testament to the quality of these speakers. I believe these speakers will be well known in the U.S. a year from now. BTW I am in no way affiliated any of the above mentioned companies.

Follow Ups:
Only problems were that the speakers were rolled off in the highs, otherwise, I agree they were a great value

Not true. They are _not_ rolled off in the highs. I had a long talk with the designer at the show.

Besides being against the rules here to use different monikers, you undercut your credibility by doing so...-Ted

I would not believe so. Not compared to a linear frequency response curve, that is.

I can just about afford a sub $1000 speaker.Could you please suggest a pair? I read a lot about the Guru but it is beyond me.I did read about a small Silverline. How about DCM 200, Green Mountain and Omega?Have you heard them? Thanks
The DCM were great for the money $1000

I agree, DCM had some very high value floorstanders and Silverline had a very impressive monitor, Minuet, which costs $600. and has excellent bass for such a small speaker. They also have a floorstander, I believe it is called the Prelude, which is the floorstanding version of the Minuet and goes for $1,200. but the Minuets were hooked up both times I visited the Silverline room so I didn't hear them, but judging from the Minuets they will probably be very good small floorstanders.
