My ex (#2 to be exact)and I went to listen to these funny looking speakers called Magnaplainers several years back. This was the first tube system I'd ever heard, and also the first good turntable I'd ever seen. The sales person apologised for for the amps he was using
(solid state Brystons), but the system blew me away. But I wanted the turn table! Well we listened to three or four LP's, and I knew my turn table was history when I left! On the way home she asked me if I was going to buy those speakers, and I said "I don't know." She bugged for almost a year to go and buy them! (more community property!!) Later I ask her what she thought about the Conrad Johnson preamp and the tubes. Got no response.
