What are people’s opinions on the effects of nicotine on musical interests? My observations suggest that recording engineers, conductors and performers will probably benefit from nicotine, but that non-smokers will tend to be the true listening lovers; smokers will have the knack for being picky and striving for perfection by focusing on fine details, but non-smoking listeners will be able to find more intrinsic pleasure by listening and experiencing.
I’m a non-smoker and tedious things drive me nuts, but I love listening to music.
I bet audio and music reviewers are more likely to be smokers (i.e., are more prone to the temptations of smoking).
To you smokers: How would you say nicotine affects your listening pleasure and listening style?

I don't beleive this directly answers your question, however, I feel compelled to mention this - smoking rolls about 3db off the high end of your hearing.

The stink burns off over a few month, but a unit's internal components are permanently stained with a yellowish film.If selling used equipment, mention "always in a smoke-free environment", if that is truly the case -- a significant selling point for many potential buyers.

I know they are candidates for a good cleaning, including airing out the jacket and replacing the sleeve. My interest is the enjoyment of music. This is harder to do when the record (literally) stinks!

. . I enjoyed music a lot more than I do now as a non-s.
There are downsides to not smoking, but the pros far outweigh them.

I think he was asking about cigarettes. :)

and it doesn't make any difference. Well, there is one difference I guess. I don't have to pause listening while I go out on the patio to smoke anymore.
I have the same problem (currently a smoker) I can't get more than half way through a disk without pausing (or leaving it in play) to take a smoke break. Add in beer and it's about every 15 min :(Looking to stop soon, trying cold turkey for the nth time yet again!
