A writer in the Times mused on how so many people are getting tattoos in order to be different, they may soon be in the majority, and the non-tattooed crowd will then be able to claim individualistic superiority (I paraphrase).I am in that latter, non-tattooed camp, but am curious... an informal census might be interesting to see how many audiophiles are, ahem, rebels.
Please reply Yes (for tattooed) or No (for not) in your subject line. Just a bit o' fun. It could also be used by the audio rags to decide whether to pitch advertising space to the parlors.

Yes. But, it was done when it wasn't that cool (1994), and under a "dare". My hubby dared me to do it after we had a couple of Coronas in Laguna Beach, CA. Needless to say, it's not visible to anyone but him. And I'd never reveal what it is out of respect for him. :-)

I got mine years ago before all "kiddies" started doing it. I've got the barcode for Campbells Tomato soup on one arm and the DK's F*uck Off Nazi Punks on the other. The rest are scattered about..

Most of my friend got tattoos of various quality done in their teens and early twenties. Most now conclude that I was right not get them done as they do look more silly as you get older. I worked with lots of older fellas who got tattooed during the war and just after in national service... and of all the things that they had done, most regretted the tattoo that seemed such a good idea at the time.
I also find most tattoos on women to be a real turn off as well.
All I seem to accumulate is scars all over my body, and over they years they start to mount up... looking like a patchwork quilt at the moment.
If I had to have a tattoo, I would opt for an 'all over' one of me but 2 inches taller.Cheers,

Unless it's a small one on a person's upper arm, tattoos look like gangrene to me.....Needless to say, I don't have any, and wouldn't even think of getting one....

... for a FZ/Ms show and an usher (those were the days) came onstage to move a stage invader.
He was greeted with shouting about uniforms on stage.
Frank merely asked who was wearing jeans or a t-shirt and having got a big response, commented on what constituted a uniform.

Except I read the stars and tattoos as different. Apparently the sneetches are born with or without stars on their bellies. Difference being that tattoos are almost always a matter of choice, and for a variety of reasons, appearing different being major among them.As the wiki indicates, the story is more about racism than anything else. One thing tattoos are NOT about is racism (Holocaust aside - a major example of involuntary tattooing and obviously not part of the ornament ethos), being enjoyed by one and all.

... stars were fashionable, then they weren't. Then they were... the only profit went to the monkey. hmmm...Remember the Who's brillant tune "Tattoo" from "Sell Out"?
I expect that I'll regret you
But the skin graft man won't get you.

Tattoo.Well, nowadays I guess they're ostensibly reversible, which I guess lowers the entrance fee for iconoclasm...

Get tattoos of watches and then, as you age, astound your friends with that Salvador Dali look.
