Don't any of you mate for life with your equipment?

Follow Ups:
at least be promiscuous as far as audio components go :)

As I hit my early forties... I note with more than a little regret that my once youthful hunger for ever evolving and changing audio systems, fast cars and the whimsical prospect of even faster women (perchance!), has ebbed away... these day I draw comfort from conservative stability and a one manufacturer system. And so it is,
It's mental illness. Audio Asylum is a most appropriate name.
Current equipment (Most of which I need to sell)
Speakers: Quad ESL-63, Vienna Acoustics Beethovens, Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signatures.
Pre-Amps: ARC SP-6A, CJ-17LSII, Quad 34
Amps: Quad (something), Threshold Stasis 2, Parasound Halo A-21
CD Players: Adcom GCD-700, Sony 333 ES, Sony XA777 SACD
And a whole bunch of cables, tuners, recievers, tweaks, a DAC and cones, sorobothane sheets and Lord knows what else. And I didn't count anything in my HT setup. Told you it's mental illness.
Oh...forgot about my turntables....and.....!!!! AHHHHRRGG!!!!

Nice answers thanks. Here is what I have now and will have for a long long time:
My wife/girlfriend (the same) and
BC CS - integrated
Arcam 192-T CDP
Audiovector Mi-3 speakers
Mix of Signal (speaker, interconnects, power cord) and BC (power cord)cablesI really can't imagine changing anything.
Goddag Frihed89,I think I have the opposite problem. Probably, I still own every piece of audio gear I've ever bought- even Antideluvian soundcards and really yellow lampcord used for speaker cable in my office of 1983. There are projects: Dynaco PAS3 and ST70, EICO HF-12A, and four receivers including the first piece of audio gear I ever owned myself, a 1972 Marantz 2235. My main system: ARC SP10, D115, and Vandersteen 2Cs I bought in the late 80's. The McIntosh MX110 and MC240 I bought in 1990.
As I write I'm listening to my office 1985 Audio Research SP-8 preamp on my 1986 Spectrum speakers. The computer soundcard is connected to the SP-8 through 1985 Audio Reseach Litzlink interconnects. The ARC D-130 amplifer, Audioquest IC's, and Revox tuner are only a couple of months old, but I can see already the these will all be around a long time.
Far from mating for life, I seem to ramble through audio stuff like a serial monogamist- getting enthusiastic, but constantly adding "alternatives" in series. Only I keep returning to my first loves- especially the SP-8.
Ophold afkle menneskene!
Cheers,
I have had some gear longer than my marriage lasted, and still performs flawlessly. The gear that is.

Ears?
I don't change out equipment like some do either. I've had the same amp, preamp and turntable for ten years, and only replaced my tonearm with a new one after 8 years, two years ago. I have been through several CD players and phono cartridges in the last several years. I'm a DIY speaker hobbyist so what I'm paying with/working on changes with my mood in that department. My Magnepan MMGs are the first commercial speaker I've bought or cared to own since around 1989.

... my Yamaha CA-610II and Polk 7A's have been in the house since college (1977/78, respectively, as I recall) and are here for the duration. They provide good "home theatre" service in the family room to this day.The Cornwalls I acquired in 1997 are likely to stay, too, as will my EICO HF-81 and probably my Bottlehead Paramours (both a little more recent acquisitions).
Otherwise, it may come and go.
Half the fun of this hobby -- at least -- is exploring new stuff. Do you keep your cars forever?

Public transportation is very good here and conditions for cycling are excellent. But now that you mention it, i have owned many cycles in my life.

I'm 1/2 way there with my B&O 4004 turntable...bought it in 81...and my Technics studio parametric EQ followed me home in 74.
(born in 57).(I'll probably realize I've hit 50 when I hit 80)
