.....synergy, musical preference, and that special "Mojo Magic Thang"!!My SET has such simple circuitry, that changing a resistor will do stuff......let alone rolling power tubes. I love an assortment of them.....vintage RCA's, Russian "Sovteks", chinese "Valve Arts" etc etc etc. Each one of them have a sonic signature and I find myself switching from one pair to the other depending on what I'm listening to.
Another huge factor with my main set-up is that it's designed for vinyl...vinyl...and more vinyl. I play those shiny little bier coasters in another room (SS by the way).
I just thought of another big + with tubes......they glow in the dark : ) The whole tube thing is like magic.......can't quite figure it out, but it's fun trying!
