I am glade to know that you are ejoying your system, but have you compare bridged BelCanto eVo 2 as mono pair with Musician II digital amp? I heard that Musician II have some problem and it always in the shop for repair. How is your experience?
I have not had the priviledge of auditioning the Bell Canto amplifiers bridged or otherwise, but I recently learned from John Ulrick, the designer of the Musician II, that the Musician II can be internally bridged and, when done as such, monaurally outputs 1,400 very musical, toe tappin' watts RMS into 8 ohms....
Hi MJ,So far, I am quite happy with this creature although, I have though noticed a slight glitch, which I find with most all "computer" based equipment. This is true of both my Denon AVR-5800 and the Musician II. For some reason unbeknownst to me, each of these components occasionally "locks-up".
This becomes evident on the Denon upon turn on when I notice that configurations for input components have changed, or that configuration for speakers has changed or that one speaker or another has no output. To rectify this condition, I simply reset the unit by unplugging it from power and then as I replug it back in, press two buttons on the front panel. The lights on the front panel all start flashing for a few seconds and when they extinguish, I reset all of the parameters and calibrate the unit to THX specs. All of this takes about 5 minutes.Occasionally, with the Musician II, upon system turn on, when there is no sound from either one or both speakers, I simply flip the on/ off switch to off, wait 5 seconds and turn the “creature” on. Works every time.
This same phenomenon is also true of plug in lamp dimmers. Every once in a while, either they stop working, won't turn on, or won't turn off. To rectify this known problem, the manufacturers suggest unplugging the unit from power for a couple of minutes and replugging the unit back into the wall outlet. Works every time.
Nothing is easy. Nothing is perfect. My feeling is that the positives and the pleasure that I derive from each of these devices in all of these instances far outweigh the any negatives or inconveniences that there ownership might present.
Again, I am both happy and appreciative for what I have with all of these appliances. And, in the final analysis, all of these components really are appliances. To be quite honest, I try not to ever take washing machines, toaster ovens, or entertainment systems too, too seriously. Although, to again be quite honest, I can’t remember ever having either written a product review on a washing machine or answering emails about a toaster oven. I just may have to re evaluate my position on this subject.
Robert :-)
I think there were problems with earlier versions of the Musician. The Musician II is supposed to be much more reliable. It comes with a 3 year warranty. Albert VonSchweikert was using Bel Canto eVo 2 as his reference amp but has switched to the Spectron, if that means anything. I also have received excellent customer service from John Ulrick when inquiring about mating power plants/conditioners to my Spectron. I have owned it about 6 weeks and have had no problems with it. I haven't tried the Remote Sense cables yet. I am still pretty new to this and have other things on my list to upgrade first. I haven't heard a wide variety of amps so I can't say how it compares to other amps but it is definitly a keeper for me. It's the only piece I own that, in the back of my mind, I never think about how nice an upgrade might sound. Gonna keep this one a long time.Happy Tunes
