Seems that you are talking about the drive when we are talking about the CD itself. To my knowledge CD accuracy is measured in terms of block error rate. The accepted standard is a tolerance of about 200BLER. Some labels are demanding as low as 10 BLER from the CD manufacturers. This would tend to make one think the accuracy is rather variable. Not sure why your post is rather hostile. Sorry that you are unhappy. I hope your day improves.
Hi Doc,Thanks for the kind thoughts. The hostility came from elsewhere in the Asylum, and got into a post where it didn't belong. Someone I like is mad about something I said, but I'm getting over it gradually. It will all pass in time.
The error rates you quote seem to address the manufacturing standards rather than the playback system. We wouldn't consider limiting the bandwidth of our vinyl playback system to that of the average lp. Why make similar compromises in the digital arena? The error rates you quote are maximums anyway, and why would you want to add more errors during playback?
Don't answer that please. You may like the errors, and that's OK. But for "accuracy" (I'm starting to hate that word) you don't want the Drive to add any additional errors. Right?
Be excellent.
Charles
