for the first time. I'm with ya on the Old Bay. I apparently needed more binding because they didn't hold together well. My wife and I were both disappointed with the results. Seems there is very little difference in most of the recipes I found. I tried mine in my cast iron skillet, which may be been at least part of the problem. If there is another attempt I will bake them.
Follow Ups:
Shallow frying can be tough for crab cakes as they tend to fall apart.
I mold them in cookie molds, press them out of the molds onto a wax paper lined pan and refrigerate them for an hour before baking at 350 for about 12 minutes on a silicone baking sheet lined pan followed by a broil cycle until the tops are golden.
I don't want to add any more binder so I use this cooking method that is gentler on the crab cake.

Thanks for the info. I will do it your way next time.
