I've heard alot of great things about the Elekit TU-879S kit, and I'm seriously considering buying it. I've read alot of posts about upgrading the the (4) 0.1 mfd coupling caps. Does anyone have a specific cap that can be used for this? I was thinking of using the Mcap supreme caps for this. At Madisound, 4 of these would cost around $50. Is this an upgrade worth making? If not, can anyone recommend another cap that will offer good bang for the buck?
Also, are there any other mods that are worth making without breaking the bank?

I used the Mundorf Silver-in Oils in mine & really like the sound, but a friend of mine that does loads of rebuilds & upgrades told me I should pull them and try the K-40 Russian PIOs. I've already got the SIOs in there, so I'm not going to take them out now, but the K-40s would definitely be a big step forward from the stock caps. The stock caps actually don't sound bad for a cheap cap, but the K-40s are very nice for the price.

I have the Vitamin Q oil paper caps...beautiful! Without the upgraded caps, I hear that the nuances of tube rolling are lost.
Id recommend rolling 807's although the clash sound great with KT's :)
Yes, RCA 807 is good with TU-879S but you need an adaptor. I will try Tung-sol 5881
