Sorry the main topic was about the bjork dualdisc vs dvd audio. the dvd-a won but the dual disc in digital sounds very good. plus it has the bonus videos.
I should not of mentioned the marychains but I saw it in your post so I wanted to play them. I did find the 4th one

are you saying that the DVD-A side of a DualDisc has inferior sonics to the release of a disc that is DVD-A only?
I can't believe that you have a system that is so resolving that you can tell. Certainly, the mixes, and mastering is the same. I do not doubt however, that the final EQs before the glass/metal masters were pressed would change things.
But, I wouldn't be surprised. Very unusual. But, people have said that the Bjork SACDs are better than the DVD-As. And that surprised me as well.

bjorks dual disc are not dvd-a there dts. It would have to have a 96/24 mlp track to compare with dvd-a I have a lot of mch dualdiscs but not sure if any are like that. a dts 96/24 sounds better in analog but have no way to hear if its equal to dvd a 96/24

I have a couple of the Bjork "surrounded" dual disks none of the true DVD-A.
The Bjork Surrounded claim 96/24 dolby and dts 5.1 surround. But thats an out and out lie. There are no Hi rez tracks on the disk they are all 48kHz 16bit.
That being said. I ripped some of the waves from the masters and from what I can see there is absolutely no Hard limiting and Maximizing on any of the tracks so Hooray for that even though there is some false advertising on the back of the case.
I don't know if the Bjork tracks were ever abused on Redbook I should investigate, but the fact that the tracks are treated with respect and not crushed by pressure from some asshole publisher.
In digital I don't object to the sacrifice of a couple of unruly transients that limit the tracks levels significantly but there's no need for people like Steely Dan to be limiting and maximizing on their DVD-A releases why why why why why!?
So,
What you're saying is that the DualDisc bjork is not DVD-A like they say?
That in fact it's 48/16?

Yes I was a little upset when I discovered this. Since on the back of the case it says 96/24.
I thought maybe they had a special watermark that would disallow Hi Res content on PC.
But My Denon DVD-A SACD player declares 48/16 as well as the info from the extracted files.
I don't have a surround set up so I like to mix the surround tracks together for Hi-res listening.
Another thing I've discovered is sometimes on the Stereo DVD-A tracks its either an upconverted 44.1/48K file or the analog was filtered for 44.1kHz samples so its not a new remix of the stereo tracks.
Again although the Bjork surrounded are not 96/24 they don't crush the dynamic range so thats a big PLUS!!
