Get a Denon 5900, mod it at Modwright and never look back. This is the best investment I have made in many long years and the best digital I've owned so far. You will never need a DAC and your jaw will drop to the floor, especially after 300 hours of break-in.I can't say enough good things about Dan's modded 5900 and for the money invested (player+mods)this is a STEAL!!!!!!!!!
Follow Ups:
Sounds good in theory. I have always heard good things about Dan's work. However, I think that may be out of my price range by the time you get done with all of it, no?

Alex Peychev's modded Pioneer DV-563. Alex seems to have done a really
excellent job modding that player and many inmates here have been very pleased with the performance. At $700.- includng the player, this would also be another excellent option to consider.AP
If you get the level 1 mods and 2 Bybees at AC Inlet, that would cost around the $750.- add the player at $1500 for a total of $2250.- If you can extend your budget thus, you will NEVER feel a need for any DAC and you'll be owning a top notch and very well built player with a SUPERB video section and top notch peformance from all formats.AP
