ProGold according to Caig is 75% Naptha or simply lighter fluid. 20% is butane, which is used as a propellant. The other 5% is unknown as they don't really disclose what it is. If I had to bet lunch I'd bet it was barium or some other common corrosion inhibitor.Personally I use isopropyl alcohol to do all my contact cleaning. Period. As long as you dry off the water or displace the moisture that's about as good as it gets. If I ocassionally feel the need to put a preventive compound on my contacts I may use mineral spirits or naptha, although to be honest I keep a can of Caig DeOxit around because it's easy to use.
I like Caig products but believe they stretch the truth of their capability just a bit. Mind you I've had experience working with Navy Engineers testing avionics cleaners and providing feedback and field testing of various products. If there really was a De-oxidizing or conditioning spray that wasn't a dangerous acid I'd personally pay big bucks for a can.
As it is I've seen 'em come and seen 'em go and they all seem to be naptha or mineral spirits and that's about all.
John
