for having the first 16X oversampling dual 20 bit DAC,
along with transport/DAC/preamp all-in-one package,
25s might be worthy to become a 'Classic'.I see now Musical Fidelity has a similar product.
Also, it was a bit unusual for beling a hi-end one box CD player oppose
to a traditional audiophile approved 'transport/DAC' combo.Almost 5 years since its introduction, yet, as CD12,
surprisingly it is still holding up.kps28c, OTOH, whilst it's a competent player, offers
nothing spectacular or break-through features.
Cambridge was the first with 16 x oversampling, with the CD2.
Shortly after that Belgian Audio Discovery made a 32x machine,
but of that one only 3 or 4 were built.
you mean the Cambridge Audio out of UK?
Sure, though not in the present incarnation. They used to be
very advanced, always short of cash, and always had to cancel demoes
because their latest and greatest prototype tended to break down
hours or days before each show. But the CD2 was very real, and a couple of hundreds must have been
sold. Four TDA1541s connected together, each one shifted in time relative to the others, first order analogue filter, that's all.
The present Cambridge is just a label on Far-Away sourced budget
electronics.
.
You call are whole new interconnection topology, not a break through! If their CAST system isn't a break through what is? Unfortunately, You have to have a Krell CAST amp to take advantage. I would suggest a trip their web to check the technology.
I have heard this "system" and it is different. Very transparent. The reviewers at AS rave over it.
they've released the 28c.
So, as far as I'm concerned, it's a filtered down
technology from the 25s.And yes. i am familiar with CAST interface.
While it has its merit, i still prefer using
favorite cables of my choice. Just like
any other cables, it suites each owners'
personal taste and system needs. When you heard the Krell system wired with
CAST, which ICs did you AB with? And pardon my ignorance, what is AS?
